How to play Krillion

Krillion is a daily game where obscure answers win. Here's how scoring works, what “Too Clever” means and when the puzzle resets.

The rules

Each day brings seven prompts, like “Name a noodle dish”. You type one answer per prompt. Every accepted answer lands in a rarity tier — the rarer the answer, the more points you score.

What does “Too Clever” mean?

Too Clever is the answer that feels obscure but isn't: the famous “hidden gem” that everybody reaches for. It scores barely more than the most common answer.

When does Krillion reset?

Krillion resets at midnight US Eastern Time — 04:00 UTC during daylight saving time and 05:00 UTC in winter. That's the afternoon in Australia and New Zealand and the early morning (about 4–5 am) in the UK and Ireland.

Tips for a higher score

Skip the first answer that comes to mind — so does everyone else. Think in sub-categories (regional dishes, minor characters, small countries), and save your Double Down for a prompt you know deeply.

Rarity tiers and points

  • Rare60Genuinely uncommon. Nice pull.
  • Deep Cut85True obscurity. Few go this deep.
  • One in a Krillion100The designated gem. Trench floor.
